Our Miracle.....Nadia Elizabeth Pylman

I thought I'd show off our little girl, since we've all been praying for her for so long. My water broke last Monday at 4:20pm (at my parents house on the toilet). My mom and dad, Maria and Jake were all over and I didn't tell them. I just got out of the bathroom and said I had to get going to meet Ryan to run some errands. I then went home, took a shower to shave my legs (they had to be done!), and waited for Ryan to get home. At the time I wasn't having any contractions. We then left to go to the hospital just after 5pm. Contractions started when I got to the hospital and they were 2-3 minutes apart right away. They check me and I was at a 6. I was then switched to the delivery room at about 7pm and was given an epidural and they checked me and I was at a 91/2! She was born at 8:07pm. Ryan and I were about 90% sure we were having a boy and when he said it was a girl...we were so shocked, but in a good way. It was a wonderful experience, and she is such a miracle. Healthy and almost full term (37wks exactly). Thanks again for all your prayers throughout the pregnancy-again, God answers prayers!

Chopped off!

Happy early birthday to Nicole (Friday, the 4th)! She recently had her hair chopped off and donated to an organization. Here's the proof in the picture...

one of the pregga-nonas

I keep up with this blog all the time at school, but for some really dumb reason, the network / filter there won't allow me to comment or post. Bummer. But now I'm borrowing a computer and borrowing the wireless from someone in our neighborhood (don't tell!) to quick update you all. As Jenny said, we miss the spring-time changes, although the snow I hear most of you are dealing with is definitely not something we're too jealous of. (A White Christmas is one thing, but a White Easter is quite a different story!) School is going well. Today is the culmination of my Spring Break which wasn't very break-like because I was in Washington DC and NYC with 42 8th graders and their families. We did a TON and were able to experience a lot, but now I need a whole other vacation! I went last year and it was scheduled before the break, so I still got a week off. I'm definitely feeling that now. Thankfully, though, I was given a few extra "personal days" that I can take whenever, and we just bought tickets for Memorial Day weekend. Nick was going to come anyway for Zach Blacquiere's wedding (an old high school friend, and Nick's standing in the wedding). So I'll take off a couple days then and join him!

My pregnancy is going well, as far as we can tell. On Tuesday I have an appointment and the 20 week ultrasound (I'm almost 21 weeks), though we aren't finding out the sex of the baby. I've just started to feel it kicking in the past couple of days... I think I had felt it before, but couldn't really tell whether it was just "gas bubbles" or not. So that's really fun, although I'm sure I'll be a little sick of it once the baby starts dancing on my bladder and keeps me up at night.

Here are a few photos: from my DC / NYC trip, and then a couple of Nick and of me. Enjoy!

from Jennifer

i thought i would try this post thing too!
well, i am still in san diego and nearing the end of my first year in grad. school.
for those who don't know, i'm getting a MA in speech pathology (or therapy) specifically in the area of bilingualism, so i'll be certified to work with any kid or adult who speaks more than one language. this means that i've had to learn, and am still learning about the languages of the world, esp. the langugae spoken in the U.S. its been fun i guess, as fun as school can be; but its also tiring...well draining would be a better word. it is a very competitive program...which is a bit difficult for me since i still have to learn about having a competitive spirit...and its also 50 women in the program, and we see each other monday through friday which is also TIRING!!! we could really use a couple more guys in our program, i think having guys would add a new and much needed dimension to our field.
anyways, school is not TOTALLY consuming me; evie came out to visit a few weeks ago, so she and julie came down to visit me. my mom came last week which was fun- we went to the zoo went to the beach, did all kinds of stuff...and slept in. ha!
i'm trying to think. oh i'll be back in Michigan in May for Josh and Annie's wedding and then i will also be back in August, hopefully in time for paul and layne's wedding and also to see all the new babies in our family!
well i hope y'all are well and enjoying the coming of spring (in Michigan). i really miss the drastic change of weather and scenery that we have in Michigan; here things just kind of are the same for the whole year with some minor changes...but in san diego, it is basically sunny everyday, which makes me really miss the rainy days in Michigan. I'm rambling.
hmmm...i miss calvin; i had a really good "school experience" and friend experience there, and being in a new city at a HUGE university is still something i am getting used to. i am slowly making new friends, although the goings in that area have been tough :)
so, i think that is it...tomorrow is my last day of spring break, so i am making myself take a few hours off and go to the beach. as i said before, i hope you all are doing well and i can't wait to see everyone when i get back!
Jenny
p.s. sorry no photos yet...i have to figure things out one step at a time :)

The New Adventures of Jonah DenHartigh

Jonah is such a big help around the house. He particularly enjoys helping unload the dishwasher.....even when the dishes are dirty.

We went grocery shopping. We had bags of groceries on the floor in the kitchen. We were both in the kitchen putting stuff away and getting dinner ready. I heard Jonah in the other room and said to Tim, "Will you go check on Jonah? I think he took some groceries into the living room." Tim goes to check and sure enough, Jonah dragged a bag in there and discovered it contained something interesting.....

Notice he passed on the cottage cheese.

Jonah watches a two minute movie on the computer while Tim is at work of Jonah and Tim playing with a ball. When it ends he says, "gain? gain?" (again) I finally got smart and put it on repeat play. He sits there with a silly grin on his face the whole time. Any time I sit down at the computer, within seconds he is walking toward me with arms outstretching asking, "Da Da? Da Da?"
